The Governing Council of Ladoke Akintola University, Lautech, Ogbomosho, has been inaugurated with Professor Wale Omole who is the Pro-Chancellor as the Chairman.
The visitors to the university, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state, both inaugurated the seven member committee of the Governing Council in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
The inauguration was witnessed by both Messrs Ajimobi and Aregbesola as Joint Owners of the Institution.
Mr Aregbesola in his speech entitled ‘Towards Excellence’ stated that Lautech is a dream institution established to provide technical education, as such, it must be a functional centre for transfer of knowledge that will reconcile an ideal society.
Citing unemployment as a danger in the corner against graduates of higher institutions, the governor advised that Lautech must produce graduates with corresponding values that will engender societal growth and development.
Mr Ajimobi appreciated the people of Oyo and Osun states for standing firm to reject disintegration of Lautech in the wake of what he described as selfish interest of some people who wanted the both state to part ways over Lautech ownership.
He said the University is intended to become a regional university and not a local one to broaden its prospects.
The Acting Vice chancellor and the chairman of the Governing council, Adeniyi Gbadegesin and Wale Omole respectively both noted that the University is fortunate to be blessed with the cream of members of the inaugurated governing council who he says have been chosen with utmost circumspection to lift the university on to greater height of glory.
