The 2013 Appropriation amendment act presented by President Goodluck Jonathan has scaled through second reading in the House of Representatives.

The bill which went through the first reading on the 27th of March, has been a source of disagreement between the executive and the legislature ever since.

Speaking on the general principles of the bill, Samson Osagie said the house needed to critically examine the level of implementation of the budget so far and the actual personnel cost of ministries, departments and agencies.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal however appealed to the lawmakers that in view of public interest, they should allow the bill pass despite their reservations.

The bill has been referred to the committees on appropriation and finance.
