
In an interview with Channels Television, Prof. Haruna said this is to guarantee a constant flow of professional and quality teachers in the nation’s tertiary institutions.
He also lamented the dearth of professional teachers in the country noting that most of the teachers in the nation’s classrooms turn to teaching as a last resort having failed to secure employment elsewhere.
He also pointed out that some qualified lecturers at the colleges of education often veer off to other sectors to seek employment, a situation he noted has contributed largely to the falling standard of education in the country.
