The President said the trade relations between both countries fostered the rise in the volume of annual bilateral trade from about $600 Million three years ago to over $2 Billion at present.
Speaking at an audience with the outgoing Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Chris Cooter, President Jonathan encouraged the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Canada in other areas such as education, electoral reform and polio eradication.
Jonathan praised Mr. Cooter for working very hard to improve relations between Nigeria and Canada during his three-year tenure in Abuja, while He wished him success in his future assignments.
“You have done wonderfully well here and I assure you that our relationship will continue to grow from strength to strength,” he told the outgoing High Commissioner.
