The Federal Executive Council has suspended the FEC meeting today due to the travel schedule of some Muslim cabinet members who had to travel to their home states to mark the Eid-el Fitr festival.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati who spoke to state house correspondents on the suspension of FEC said that some other members of the cabinet including vice president Namadi Sambo ore also taking part in the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

He maintained that it is the constitutional rights of such cabinet members to carry out the religious obligation.

In another development the Special Adviser to the President said that the invitation extended to President Jonathan to join the newly registered All Progressive Congress is an acknowledgement of Jonathan’s sterling leadership qualities.

Reacting to the statement by the interim chairman of the party Chief Bisi Akande, Reuben said that it is complimentary and an indication that President Jonathan is the best man for the job at present but he ruled out the possibility of Jonathan’s joining the APC.

Reuben faulted the APC leadership for forming a party only to realize later that they do not have a credible candidate; he however said that the president is happy where he is, as a member and leader of the PDP to which he remains loyal to and under the umbrella which the transformation agenda will be fulfilled.
