The last mat not have been heard on the NGF crisis, as the Adamawa state governor Murtala Nyako condemned in clear terms Jonah Jang’s decision to declare himself the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, saying Jang cannot lead the Nigeria Governors Forum, as he didnt win the election.
Nyako stated this while being interviewed by journalists at the presidential villa in Abuja after the meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.
The governor noted that the NGF’s guideline had clearly stated that the chairman must be someone who will speak on behalf of all governors neutrally.
Reacting to suggestions from certain quarters that the Plateau state governor, Jonah Jang and the Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi of rivers state who according to the video footage and statement which made the rounds after the NGF election to have won the election, should step down for peace to reign, Nyako replied saying “you are saying Jang should step down, step down for what? Did he win the election?
He however hinted, that the on the on-going series of meetings that has been going on since Monday to resolve the crisis in the party should be synonymous to a democratic process, while refusing to divulge the agenda of his meeting with the president.
