Front-line musician, Stella Monye who is popularly called Samba Queen has disclosed plans to celebrate her 3 decades as a performing artist.
The celebration which kicked off in April, with a well-attended event in Lekki, will continue in September 29th at the Coliseum Nite Shift with a concert tagged, The Whin Concert.
Whin, is her pet NGO which she started after her work as a social service officer, for seven years.
“Maybe that’s why I was quiet” on the music scene, she said.
She also engaged in social activism alongside (late) Gani Fawehinmi, Wole Soyinka and others where she used “music to interpret what they would do in speech”.
Speaking about the evolution of the music industry in Nigeria, she encouraged young, new generation artistes to sing ‘meaningful’ songs which people can relate to for many years.
