The Federal Executive Council has approved a contract for a comprehensive under water inspection, assessment and survey of the third mainland bridge in the sum of N290m, following reports of excessive vibration of the bridge under heavy traffic.

The council meeting chaired by President Jonathan, the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku said that the council also approved an international development association loan of $200m for Fadama farmers in the country.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina who joined in the briefing said that over 370,000 farmers will benefit from the Fadama project which will impact on 1.7m beneficiaries with 50 per cent of them women farmers.

He said the loan facility will strengthen the farmers associations in the Fadama areas and boost crop production in the country. Also the federal executive council approved a bill for the effective detection, prevention, prohibition and prosecution of cybercrimes in Nigeria.
