Floyd Mayweather Jr. confidently declared himself the face of boxing at a news conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday, saying his ability to make adjustments in the ring will insure victory for him over Mexican sensation Canelo Alvarez on Saturday.

The two men will go head-to- head for the WBA/WBC junior middleweight crown.

Mayweather described Canelo’s record when he took his turn at the podium, saying, “A guy 42-0. He hasn’t faced 42 Floyd Mayweather’s because he’d be zero and 42 so I don’t really worry about who he has faced. Whatever any fighter can do well I can do great. I was born to be here. I was born to be at this level. I’m at the pinnacle. I’m the face of boxing and I’m dedicated to my craft,”

Canelo, who is quiet and soft-spoken couldn’t appear more different than Mayweather in temperament as he thanked everybody plus his team who he said will savour the taste of victory come Saturday.

“Thank you all for being here. It truly is a pleasure to be part of this. I appreciate all of you and all the support for this fight. I had a great preparation. I want to thank my team for working hard with me and on Saturday night I will be victorious,”

Both fighters are undefeated and their meeting on Saturday is threatening to break box office and pay-per view records.

Mayweather is expected to take home $41 million with Alvarez taking home a guaranteed $6 million dollar pay-out.
