The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mr. Mike Okiro, has inaugurated the Commission’s Standing Committees.

An event that took place yesterday Thursday September 12, 2013, the Chairman of the PSC stated that the inauguration is necessary for the statutory functions of the Commission to be carried out effectively.

The Standing Committees are constituted to enable the board function effectively and efficiently and usually sit before every plenary meeting.

Some of the Committees inaugurated are: Standing Committee on Plenary Board, Police Recruitment Board, Finance and General Purpose, Police Discipline, Police Promotion, Complaints and Legal Matters amongst others.

Okiro advised that work must begin immediately since there are lots of things to be done, after reading out the composition of all the committees.

Responding on behalf of all the Standing Committees’ Chairmen, Hon. Justice Olufunlola Adekeye (Rtd.), in her speech reminded the members that the federal government expects a lot from the Commission, as she emphasized that the Committees must abhor the act of corruption in all its activities, particularly in the area of recruitment of officers and men into the Nigeria Police Force.
