Ahead of September the 21st, slated for council elections in Cross River state, the leadership of the ruling party (PDP) in the state says it is taking its campaigns from ward to ward; community to community, seeking the peoples mandate for victory at the polls.

Leader of the party and governor of Cross River state, Liyel Imoke was speaking at the official flag off its campaign for the elections, with the theme; ‘A leader As Underdog” at the Cultural Centre Complex in Calabar, the State Capital.

Members of the party their numbers under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party in marking another milestone and a democratic process in the history of the state.

The governor flagged by National and state stakeholders of the party could not hide their excitement as the flag off according to them is a sound of victory.

Imoke assured Cross River indigenes that, the party will abide by the rules of laws governing electoral processes during the campaigns and elections, urging residents in the state to turn out enmass to vote for the party’s candidate.

The State PDP chairman also says, in its drive to deepen Democracy in the state, adequate attention has been given to women and youth participation in the forthcoming election.

There were goodwill messages from different political stalwarts describing the present leadership of the state a model of good governance.

Presenting the party flag to their candidates, National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur disclosed that, PDP is a one big family urging the aspirants to keep faith with the party bearing in mind that, a leader as Underdog must aspire to serve and not to rule when they eventually get the mantle of leadership.
The flag off was in strict compliance with the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission(CROSEIC’s) time table giving political parties 10days to campaign.
