A journalist, Jibrin Ndace, while commenting on the deployment of Soldiers to Nasarawa state over the recent ethnic clash which allegedly claimed the lives of  about 50 NYSC members serving in the state, stated that most of the people behind these attacks live within the community and are known.

He added that the federal government is taking too long to bring the culprits to book.

Speaking on Channels Television breakfast show Sunrise Daily, Mr. Ndace explained why the government has taken so long to respond; adding that sometimes the attitude of the decision makers could be because they do not regard the crisis as of great importance.

He said there is no reason why the federal government shouldn’t act until it deployed soldiers to Nasarawa state “the response of the federal government has been very slow”.

Ndace mentioned that the political class is fueling the crisis in the north and not the military, adding that, military intervention is not the solution.

He advised that the stakeholders in Nasarawa state should come together to iron out the issues and find a solution.

Referring to the previous killings in the state where over a 100 security men were killed, he said the military should have stepped in between May – September, adding that it took a fresh spate of killings and violence in the state before the federal government intervened.

He stressed that “the government needs to be proactive” in other parts of the country and not just in Nasarawa state.
