Over 500 delegates, various heads of Information units from across the federation are gathered here to deliberate on the theme “social media and public information management”.
Maku urged all stakeholders in information and communication management to project the country in good light to the outside world, noting that the task of redeeming the image of the country is the duty of all.
Speaking at the event held in Osogbo, the state capital, the Information Minister Labaran Maku noted specifically that effective use of the social media in trying to project the image of the nation positively will change the perception of the world to Nigeria.
Host Governor Rauf Aregbesola who also gave credence to the Minister’s admonition also advised the NCI to give thoughts to how governments at different levels can tap into the vast potentials of social media and Information Communications Technology to enhance accountability and transparency in governance.
It is expected that at the end of these technical sessions, participants would have been fully equipped with adequate guidelines and required steps to be taken in a bid to achieve efficient public information management in Nigeria.
