The legislators from the State of Osun at the Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly have given Osun state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola an open endorsement to run for a second term in office.

At a rally held at Freedom Square, Osogbo, the state capital on Tuesday, to mark the celebration of Nigeria’s Independence at 53, the lawmakers stated that in the interest of development of the state the governor must continue in office.

The endorsement for a second term coincided with the celebration of Nigeria’s 53rd birthday as the Osun governor decided to celebrate it with the forum of legislators from the National Assembly, the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly.

Honourable Ayo Omidiran moved a motion for the endorsement of the governor which was seconded by the Leader of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Timothy Owoeye, saying the legislators say the endorsement is done in the interest of the development of the state.

Reacting , the governor stated that the endorsement by the legislators is a challenge to do more for the people of the state of Osun.

With the endorsement from the forum of legislators which comprise three senators, nine federal House of Representatives and 26 House of Assembly members all on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. (APC), the journey to retain the seat in 2014 may seem to be smooth for governor Aregbesola for now, but definitely, his fate will be decided by Osun electorates .
