The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has declared 3 days of prayers and fasting in the State on the crash of the aircraft conveying the remains of the former governor of the State, Dr Olusegun Agagu in Lagos on Thursday.

Expressing his sadness over the event in a state wide broadcast, Governor Mimiko lamented that the turn of events altered the original plan for the burial of late Agagu, and also caused additional losses to the State as four officials of the state and some other eminent Nigerians lost their lives in the crash.

He mentioned the names of the State officials as: Mr Deji Falae, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism;
Mr Bennard Daji, Government House and Protocol Officer; Mrs Esther Alabi, State Liason Officer, Lagos; and Mr Deji Afolabi, Protocol Officer, State Liason Office, Lagos.

Mimiko said their death was a collosal loss to the State and commiserated with the bereaved families.

He declared 3 days of fasting and prayers and called on the people of the State to reflect on the sad incident and equally ask God for mercy over the State.

The Governor said a high powered delegation had been dispatched to convey condolences to the bereaved families.

He prayed that their souls rest in perfect peace and Gods protection and guidance for the people of the State and those in the diaspora.
