A delegation from the Presidency has paid a condolence visit on Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State on the death of former Governor Olusegun Agagu and the crash in Lagos of the plane conveying his remains to Akure for burial rites.

The Associated Airline plane crash killed 15 out of the 20 passengers and crew members on board, including 4 Ondo State Officials.  Among them was the ex- Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Deji Falae.

The federal government delegation was led by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke.

Others are: the Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson; Director General of Technical Aid Corps, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi; both of whom are indigenes of Ondo State, and the Director of Culture at the Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. George Ufot.

The Minister for Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke stated that the delegation was in Ondo State to convey the sympathy of the President and all Nigerians to the government and the entire people of Ondo State on the death of Dr Agagu and Mr Falae and others who died in the plane crash.

Governor Mimiko in his response expressed regret over the incident, adding that, Dr. Agagu and Mr Falae will be missed, owing to their immense contributions to the development of Ondo State and Nigeria.

He however added that the people keep solace in the decision of President Jonathan to investigate the cause of the crash and ensure safety in Nigeria’s airspace.
