Nigerians have been urged to give the proposed national conference every support it requires so as to serve as an avenue for national reconciliation, restoration of trust and rededication to the onerous task of accelerated national development and this is according to the chairman of the Middle Belt Forum, Professor Jerry Gana.

The presidential advisory committee on the proposed national conference continued its assignment in consulting with Nigerians with a visit to the north central zone on what they want concerning the conference agenda, selection of delegates, length of the conference and its legal basis as well as recommendations on how the findings can be adopted into the constitution.

Political leaders, women’s group, non-government organisations, students groups and several cultural and ethnic groups gathered at the Eliel centre, Jos north central Nigeria to lend their voices on the proposed national conference.

The Middle Belt Forum in its presentation to the national conference advisory committee in Jos through its chairman, Professor Jerry Gana, believes that the conference will not be a gathering to discuss how best to dissolve the nation, but a patriotic platform for finding durable and effective solutions to problems of nation building and an agenda on what should be discussed, structure, time frame as well as legal basis for the acceptability of the proposed conference.

The committee also visited the Gbong Gwom Jos, his majesty, Da Gynag Buba and Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang who solicited for the cooperation of the ~National Assembly on the proposed conference.

The Middle Belt Forum however advised that as the presidential advisory committee continues its consultations nationwide on the agenda and modalities for the proposed national conference, Nigerians need to give the committee all the necessary assistance and information required for the conference to be success.
