The Chairman of ASUU, Niger-Delta University chapter, has advised the Federal Government regarding the on-going strike action by the ASUU which is now in its seventeenth week.

He asked the Federal Government to implement fully the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, which offers a veritable road map towards reversing the decay in the university system.

The chairman of ASUU NDU chapter Dr Beke Sese made this call during a prayer cum protest rally session embarked on by the chapter in Yenagoa. According to them the prayers and protest rally became necessary as the Federal Government has refused to heed the demands of the body while some politicians are capitalizing on the strike action to cast aspersions on the federal government.

An economist and lecturer of the Niger Delta University, Dr Samuel Edormeikumo condemned the trend of politicians sending their children abroad for studies and the effect it has on our economy.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike on July 1, 2013.
