Ahead of the Anambra state governorship election, political parties and their candidates have agreed to conduct themselves properly to ensure a peaceful electoral process, while the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has concluded arrangements for the conduct of the election.

Leaders of the various political parties, concerned organisations, and regulatory agencies in the state converged at the conference hall of women development centre in Awka, to discuss the way forward and contribute their impute towards the success of the November 16 governorship election.

The workshop was a forum for party leaders, candidates and other stakeholders to share ideas, perspectives and understanding towards ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the Anambra governorship election.

It was convened by the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Inter Party Affairs, Ben Obi.

According to a communique signed by participants, it was agreed that the will of the electorate must be respected by all parties while security agencies should be neutral and non-partisan, while the presidency should not interfere in the electoral process, and that INEC must provide a level-playing field for all candidates.
