The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) has expressed its readiness to conduct credible, reliable and transparent election on Saturday, October 26th.
The Chairman of the commission, Dr. Uthman Ajidagba gave this assurance at the commission’s headquarters while speaking with journalists on the preparedness of the commission for the election.
He said the commission has put necessary machinery in motion to ensure a credible poll, adding that the security agencies and other stakeholders have been contacted for successful outing before, during and after the election.
According to him, only three political parties signified their intention to participate in the election and they are Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The state independent electoral commission is expected to conduct local government election in the remaining fifteen local governments of the state this Saturday whilethe main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has backed out of the election.
