About 30 hectares of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, also known as indian hemp has been destroyed by the Ogun State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The farmland was discovered inside Ayepe Forest Reserve, in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun state, South West Nigeria.

The State Commander of the NDLEA, Bala Fagge disclosed that his men got information about the farmland through a tipoff, saying that 5 suspects have been arrested in connection with the cultivation of the outlawed substance.

He stated that the command decided to destroy the cannabis cultivation, rather than to wait for the perpetrators to harvest the illicit drugs before pouncing on them, stressing that such approach would be counterproductive.

He added that the command has declared a total war on cannabis cultivation in the state.
