Eaglets Triumph Over Iran, To Face Uruguay In Q.Finals

Golden Eaglets of Nigeria continued with their impressive display at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, as they beat Iran 4-1 to advance to the quarter finals of the competition.

Three goals for the Eaglets in the first half from Samuel Okon, Kelechi Iheanacho and Captain Musa Mohammed took the game beyond the Iranians who appeared to be a tough opposition after giving a good account of themselves in the early stages.

In the second half, Musa Yahaya scored Nigeria’s fourth goal before the Iranians got themselves on the scoresheet.

The Golden Eaglets Coach, Manu Garba  ensured his boasts before game came to pass with the Eaglets’ win. He earlier said he already had a winning strategy to dismantle Iran in today’s second round match.

He said he was confident that the kick off time offers the Nigerian youngsters the chance to continue with their excellent form in the tournament.

The Golden Eaglets will now face Uruguay in the quarter-finals on Saturday, November the 2nd, at 5pm Nigerian time.

African champions, Cote d’Ivoire will be facing Argentina, who sent another African country Tunisia packing from the tournament.

Favourites Brazil will confront title holders Mexico, while Honduras will trade tackles with Sweden.
