Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam today took delivery of trucks and construction equipment worth 361 million Naira.
The equipment was procured for the state ministry of works as it embarks on massive inter-town road constructions across the state.
This is coming 4 days after the inspection of some construction equipment worth 58million Naira, which were earlier procured by the Yobe State Government for construction of rural and feeder roads across the state.
Inspecting the newly acquired equipment, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam said his administration is determined to embark on massive construction of rural, feeder and inter-town roads across the state, in an effort to link various communities of the state.
“The ones inspected 4 days ago will take care of feeder and rural roads, while the ones inspected today will embark on massive construction of inter-town roads that will open up the state for socio-economic development” Gaidam said.
The governor said ministries can conveniently use the construction equipment for various projects, using direct labour which is geared towards cost minimization.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam revealed that approval for the spare parts for the equipment supplied has also been granted, and cautioned the ministry to make the best use of the equipment.
The State Commissioner Of Works, Shettima Lawan Ali said equipment procured include 15 tippers, pay loaders, rollers, road maker, graders, among others.
He thanked the governor for procuring the equipment and assured that the ministry will justify the confidence reposed in them.
The governor then inspected the 45 kilometre Bayamari-Yunusari road project being undertaken by the state government, which has reached 90% completion.
