The Supervising Minister of Defence, Mr, Labaran Maku, has suggested the use of the Defence Attaché Management System in resolving the security problem in Nigeria.

At an annual Defence Attaché and Advisers Conference in Abuja, Mr Maku, who is also the Minister of Information, said that the international dimensions of the insurgency have necessitated ‘cross-fertilization of knowledge and intelligence’ from different parts of the world.

He said that the sharing of knowledge would ensure that the security agencies in Nigeria were on top of their game in tackling the security crisis.

Twenty-two Defence Attaché and Advisers covering over 100 countries on behalf of Nigeria converged on Abuja with other members of the defence intelligence community for the conference.

The focus of this gathering of experts is to resolve the internal security challenges in Nigeria.

Mr. Maku urged the defence attaches to also use their diplomatic relationships and expertise for the economic good of the nation.

The gathering will offer participants the opportunity to identify new lessons and challenges in tackling security issues.

It is expected that the lessons learnt will be positively deployed in Nigeria’s internal security operations.
