The Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has reconstituted his cabinet by swearing-in 17 new commissioners, inaugurated 13 senior special assistants, 11 special advisers and 24 special assistants.
During the swearing in ceremony at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco chambers at the government house in Owerri, the Imo state capital, the Governor said political appointments should be given based on merit and performance and not to be given as compensation for struggle or service during election campaigns.
He said the inauguration of the newly appointed officials who remain his major partners in his rescue mission is coming at the right time when the state government is poised in its determination to deliver the dividends of the rescue mission agenda to the people of the state.
Top government functionaries, friends, families and well-wishers gathered at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco chambers for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed commissioners in the state.
This swearing in ceremony is coming four months after Governor Rochas Okorocha dissolved his Cabinet in July.
While congratulating the new appointees, the Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha charged them to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice which is one of the pivot of his administration. He reiterated that the appointment is not a compensation for their struggle during election campaign but as a result of their performance.
After the swearing in, the governor moved to Ahiajoku Convention Centre where he inaugurated 13 senior special assistants, 11 special advisers and 24 special assistants.
While thanking the Governor for the privilege given, Some of the new appointees promised to remain committed to their duties and ensure that they give Imo citizens the best in discharging their duties.
However, a total of 65 appointees were being sworn in and inaugurated into the Imo state expanded executive cabinet, With the Creation of three new ministries, ministry of tertiary education, science and technology, ministry of internal resources and pensions as well as the ministry of industry and non formal sector.
