The chairman, National Human Rights Commission Chidi Odinkalu, has said that the agency is yet to get an interim report concerning the case of the Enugu first lady, Clara Chime because there are processes within the commission for releasing such reports.

The commission, which he said has about 30,000 cases it is handling, 30% of which is on domestic related issues, does not want to be one sided.

Speaking on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Prof. Odinkalu explained that the commission is holding a meeting on the 9th and 10th of December, adding that there might be a hearing in which both parties involved would be issued hearing notices.”

“At the end of the meeting, the council would take a view of the matter and thereafter give its report.

He denied claims that the agency had sent a medical team to attend to the First Lady in Enugu, adding that, “the brief that we gave to the team that went to Enugu did not include any medical thing”.

Prof. Odinkalu however insisted that the matter would be looked into properly during the council meeting on the 9th and 10th of December.
