The People’s Democratic Party has thrown its weight behind its candidate in the November 16 Anambra State governorship election which has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The PDP candidate, Tony Nwoye had criticized the election claiming that there was massive rigging, disenfranchising, intimidation and harassment of voters, and called for its immediate cancellation.

The PDP through its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh however told a news conference in Abuja that security officials provided the right atmosphere for a free and fair election.

“The PDP wishes to commend the security forces for maintaining peace and for having a peaceful election in Anambra. We did not have any case of violence, no loss of life, no beating of people; that is a credit in the conduct of the election.”

“The PDP has directed the members, the chairman of the party to rally round and vote massively for our candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye who has done so well in the election so far.”
