A Federal High Court in Abuja has cleared two of the three Lebanese businessmen charged with terrorism.

The third accused person, Ahmed Tala Roda, was however found guilty of conspiracy and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court had last month reserved judgment on the case, saying it needed time to consider the arguments in the written addresses to arrive at a sound decision.

The Lebanese, Abdallah Thaini, Mustapha Fawaz and Roda, were charged with criminal conspiracy and unlawful importation of prohibited firearms.

They were arrested in connection with a large cache of arms found at a residence in Kano, Northwest Nigeria.

The counsel to the accused persons, Robert Clarke, who adopted his clients’ written address, argued that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the suit.

But in adopting his address, the prosecutor, Mr Simon Egede, urged the court to dismiss all the arguments canvassed by Mr. Clarke.
