Federation of International Football Association President, Sepp Blatter, has said that the memory of Nelson Mandela will be remembered with a moment of respect and reflection during the FIFA Club World Cup in Raja Casablanca.

Blatter stated that Mandela would be remembered as a man who recognised the significance of sports and the culture of South Africa and used it to unite the country.

He described Mandela as one of the greatest extra ordinary personalities.

“Madiba and I shared an unwavering believe that football has the power to bring  people together from all walks of life. That it is unique in its power to inspire unity, solidarity and equlity among all people.

“When Madiba was cheered but the crowd at Johannesburg soccer City Stadium on July 11, 2010, he was a man of the people, a man of their heart and it was one of the most moving moments I have ever experienced in life,” Blatter said in an emotional tribute to the great Icon
