Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Mr. Jude Agbaso has vowed to challenge the Imo State Government over his impeachment on allegations of financial misconduct levelled against him.

This is coming after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, cleared the impeached deputy governor, Jude Agbaso of alleged N458 million bribery for which he was removed from office.

Mr Agbaso and his brother Martins Agbaso, have now joined forces based on the letter written to them by the EFCC to fight not only the impeachment of the former deputy governor but to also rescue their family name.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Government, in a release signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Sam Onwuemedo, has said that the EFCC has no prerogative to clear the former deputy governor claiming that it does not have the constitutional or statutory right to clear anybody over a matter that is pending in the court of competent jurisdiction.

The State House of Assembly, in March 2013, impeached Agbaso, who was then the Imo State Deputy Governor after a seven-man panel headed by Justice G.C. Ihekire, concluded its investigation.

Agbaso was accused of allegedly taking N458m bribe from a Lebanese firm, J-PROS, in charge of the rehabilitation of the Sam Mbakwe Road in Owerri, the state capital.
