The Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has presented a 2014 budget proposal of 228.7 billion Naira (about 1.5 billion dollars) to the State House of Assembly.
While presenting the budget to the state lawmakers Governor Jang said that the budget was made up of 81.6 billion Naira as recurrent expenditure and 147.1 billion Naira was for capital expenditure.
The budget tagged ‘Budget of Continuity and Inclusive Growth IV’ will focus on the completion of ongoing projects and programmes and the consolidation of the gains made in the implementation of the administration’s programme.
The Speaker of the House, Titus Alams, emphasized the importance of budget as a critical factor in development and the readiness of the legislators to urgently look into the appropriation bill for speedy approval.
With the amount proposed, appropriate attention is expected to be given to other sectors that will improve the wellbeing of the citizens especially security issues in the state.
