The Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not support any candidate who will not embark on meaningful programmes that would improve the lives of the people.
The Governor made the statement while launching the second phase of the Strategic Constituency Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation Programme initiated by the House member representing Bursari, Geidam and Yunusari Federal Constituency, Bukar Goni.
While urging others to emulate the initiator of the programme, Gaidam said: “The electorates who brought us to these offices must not be neglected as they are responsible for the current offices we are presently holding and we must reciprocate this gesture with meaningful projects that will improve their lives.
“Most of the political office holders are busy enjoying themselves in Abuja and other major cities, forgetting the electorates who brought them to power, and the APC will not tolerate that,” Gaidam said.
He appreciated the efforts of the initiator who he said “have complemented the efforts of his administration in reducing youth unemployment and restiveness in the state.”
The governor also urged the recently sworn in Local Government chairmen in the state to provide water to all communities in their areas, stressing that they should as a matter of concern attend to the education needs of their people.
He revealed that 36,000 university graduates in the state were employed by his administration while 6,572 diploma holders had also been placed on monthly allowances all with the aim of reducing joblessness among the youths.
The initiator of the programme, Bukar Goni, said that Geidam Local Government Area would be allocated 22 tricycles; while Bursari and Yunusari would be allocated 20 each. Geidam was allocated 33 motorcycles while Bursari and Yunusari would get 30 each. He called on the youths to make the best use of the programme in improving their well-being.
The latest provision of the tricycles and motorcycles to youth of his constituency by the lawmaker was the second in six months.
