The Nigerian Senate has received the list of Service Chiefs and ministerial nominees forwarded to it for confirmation by the Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan.
Twelve ministerial nominees were submitted to the senate, among who are Mr Boni Haruna, senator Musiliu Obanikoro, General Aliu Gusau and Ambassador Aminu Wali, Hadijia Jamilla Salik among others.
The Service Chiefs are; the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh, Chief of Army Staff, Major General Kenneth Minimah, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Usman Jibrin and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Adesola Amosu.
On January 7, a public interest legal campaigner, Festus Keyamo, wrote to President Jonathan, Senate President, David Mark and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal urging the trio to adhere to the rule of law and ensure that both Houses of the National Assembly approve the appointments of all Service Chiefs.
Mr Keyamo had cited a Federal High Court judgment he obtained in July 2013, delivered by the Honourable Justice A. Bello, to that effect.
