A  group, APC Integrity Merger Network, has  accused  some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of  plotting to destabilize the party’s interim leadership in Kaduna state  and  imposing their candidates.

At a news conference in Kaduna, the group led by its chairman, Air Vice Marshal Aliyu Rufai (Rtd), condemned the rejection of the interim management committee in the state led by Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed by some disgruntled members of the party.

Specifically, the group accused some members of the defunct Congress for Progress Change (CPC), one of the political parties that merged to form the APC, of plotting to impose their candidates as leaders of the party against the present leadership that was duly and democratically elected.

While calling on the APC national leadership to wade into the matter before it snowballs into a full scale crisis capable of disintegrating the party, the group warned that the plot to impose candidates for elective positions will be resisted.

Explaining that APC is widely accepted by majority of the electorate in Kaduna state due to the dire need for change in governance, the group said such acceptability could be truncated if the present situation continues, stressing  that it will be foolhardy for any over ambitious member of the party to think of using the Adhoc committee to establish any structure for either party or elective offices when the APC is yet to embark on registration of members.

They therefore warned that such manipulations by some people will work against the party’s consolidation and smooth take-off of the registration exercise.
