A Nigerian artiste, Jodie, has commended the Nigerian government for enacting the Gay Rights Act, saying that Homosexuality is against God’s procreation plan.

Upholding an earlier comment she made on facebook, she questioned the morality behind the act of homosexuality.

“I am more concerned about the act itself, ‘homosexuality,’ and not whether it was lawful or not.

“In my response to someone’s comment on facebook, I was trying to reach out to those who practice homosexuality. I was trying to say, if everybody years back were involved in the act of homosexuality, how will the world population grow?

Jodie was speaking on Sunday, when she was featured as the artiste of the week on Rubbin’ Minds, a channels Television’s programme.

She pointed out that the freedom that gay people was asking for could end up destroying them.

“The practice itself is what I am talking about. If you keep getting freedom, you will lock yourself up by that thing you call freedom.

“If the government lends its hand in that area, I think it is meant to discourage people and not necessarily because it wants people in jail. It is morally wrong to involve in such act.

“You may say it is not harming anybody, we don’t know what will happen in the near future.

“A lot of things that had destroyed a lot of people looked harmless at a point,” she stressed.

Jodie emphasised that she was not looking at ‘the now’ and how it is seen as secretive. “10 to 15 years ago, nobody will come out and say he or she was gay. If we keep allowing this thing, it will get to a time when you don’t know where it will take us to,” she insisted.

The artiste, who sang Kuchi Kuchi, said that gay marriages have the tendency of breaking up in a short time.

“How many gay relationship have you seen celebrate 50 years.

“We are human beings; life is not just about fun and excitement. Sometimes, after a while you want something deeper, you want a friend.

“When you speak with people who are older, they are a lot calmer about life and they are more concerned about life. I am saying that as many that are hearing my voice that think that they have no control over their destiny, I hope that this conversation will make them see that they have a choice and that they can choose to make relationships that will stand”.

On her music career, she said that she was doing her best to ‘be the Jodie she had always wanted to be’.

She pointed out that she had not made up her mind about focusing on a particular music genre.

“Before I got into music, I have always wanted to express myself with music. I feel uncomfortable when I am asked what genre of music I sing. Music is not just about sound it is about what you have to communicate. For now I am still exploring different genres of music and there are still a lot to explore,” she said.

Jodie also debunked rumours that she was in an affair with David Nnaji, the Chief Executive Officer of the entertainment company that produced her debut album.

“David Nnaji is my manager and a friend and I am not dating him,” she says.
