He described the allegation that the party was majorly formed in the interest of the people from the South-West and the Northerners, as untrue and baseless.
The Governor, who made this statement after registering as an APC member at his country home at Ogboko Ward 2 in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, said that the APC was formed in the interest of all Nigerians, irrespective of region, status and religion.
He added that the APC was the only party that could challenge the ruling party, People’s Democratic Party, PDP and bring about the desired change in the nation’s democracy.
He also noted that since the opposition party had realized that the APC was gathering momentum in the country, especially through the massive turn out that greeted the party’s first registration of members nationwide, which in turn poses a big threat to them, they have resulted to cheap blackmail and rumours to discourage Imo indigenes from registering.
He, however, called on all Imo indigenes to disregard the allegations and support the APC in the state and turn out en-masse to register in their various wards.
