Eyewitness accounts say that members of the Boko Haram sect have killed 51 people in an attack on Konduga area in Borno State.
Dozens of Boko Haram members speeding along in trucks painted in military colours, armed with automatic weapons and explosives, stormed Konduga Local Government Area in Borno State, burning houses and shooting fleeing villagers.
A school teacher in the town said that the insurgents also kidnapped 20 young girls from a local college.
The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, who visited the town on Wednesday, described the incident as barbaric and unfortunate.
The Governor told journalists that about 60 to 70 percent of the town has been burnt down, but that the state is willing to rebuild it. He has also pledged to spend 100 million Naira on emergency materials.
