One of the ministerial nominees who appeared for screening at the Senate on Thursday, had to make frantic attempts to clear himself of an allegation of murder.

Mr. Oyewale Adesiyan, from Osun State told the Senate that he had been wrongfully accused of having a hand in the murder of a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, who was assassinated in his Bodija home, in Ibadan, Oyo State on December 23, 2001.

The ministerial nominee described the late Ige as his political mentor, whom he had no reason to kill.

During the session at the Senate, Adesiyan said “I never knew they would punish me with the death of Chief Bola Ige.

“That I was even fingered itself is a torture for me, that anytime I was in the dungeon cell I used to pinch myself because I wanted to know whether I was dreaming because I’m not supposed in any way or form to be fingered in the death of Chief Bola Ige.

“I am saying it today that if Chief Bola Ige gave any money out to anybody before he was assassinated, it was my children and my family,” he said passionately.
