The Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang has appealed to the organisers of the Nigerian National League to be fair to all clubs participating in the league by giving equal chances to all teams without favour.

This, according to him, would encourage sponsors to continue sponsoring teams and add value to the game.

Governor Jang made the appeal while presenting buses to Plateau United and Mighty Jets football clubs in Jos. The Governor observed that the controversy that trailed last season’s soccer season should be avoided in the ongoing soccer season.

As the 2013/2014 National League season commenced last weekend, the Plateau State Government redeemed its pledge of providing adequate transportation to teams representing the state in the National Division One League.

A Toyota 32 seater bus was donated to Plateau United FC and Mighty Jets FC respectively by the State Government, to facilitate the teams’ movement in honouring away matches and movements to training venues.

The Governor expressed disappointment that Plateau United missed promotion by whiskers during the 2012/2013 season, and he appealed to the league body to avoid a repetition of the controversial circumstances that trailed last season league competition.

Plateau United General Manager, Bitrus Bewarang, and the Chairman of Mighty Jets, Godfrey Hamza, both expressed gratitude to the government for the kind gesture as they looked forward to a rewarding and fulfilling season.

Former Super Falcons Coach, Ismaila Mabo was also at the ceremony.
