President Good Luck Jonathan has urged members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club not to relent in cheering Nigerian athletes to victory.

President Jonathan, who was named the grand patron of the club, noted that over time the supporters have created an ambiance in which the players enjoy comfort even when they are playing in foreign lands and increases the chances of Nigerian teams winning medals.

He donated N50 million to the club in support of their trip to Brazil and pledged to solicit for more funds from those he referred to as the Nigerian ‘senior boys’.

The president was also formally decorated as the Grand Patron of the Nigerian Supporters Club Worldwide.

He was presented with a regalia, staff of office and a trophy by the club’s President-General, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, at a brief ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
