Governor Muhktar Yero of Kaduna State has signed the 2014 Appropriation Bill tagged ‘Budget of Peace and Continuity’ into law.
Signing the bill shortly after Speaker of the State House of Assembly presented the copy of the bill to him, Yero promised to adhere strictly to the tenets and letters of the budget.
The Governor commended the Assembly members for being alive to their responsibility through swift passage of the bill.
The Governor had on 31st December last year presented the sum of N198.6 Billion to the lawmakers for approval, but House Speaker, Ibrahim Tahir, while presenting the bill for the Governor’s assent, said the members worked swiftly on the budget and increased the earlier amount of N198 Billion presented by the executive to N200 Billion in order to ensure the people of the state get the full benefit of the dividends of democracy.
In the budget, capital expenditure got 63 percent while 37 percent went to recurrent expenditure.
Yero said the government in the new year is shifting its revenue focus from total dependence on Federal Allocation to self-sustenance by shoring up its internally generated revenue.
He enjoined the people to play their own part by paying their taxes promptly and assured that his administration will continue to work towards the consolidation of its cardinal programmes which has already witnessed remarkable implementation.
The Governor further stated that his administration is expanding the industrial base of the state through agricultural and industrialisation programmes.
