law weeklyThis edition of Law Weekly features an interview with Mrs Josephine Effa-Chukwuma, the founder and executive director of a leading non-governmental women’s right organisation known as Project Alert on Violence Against Women and the 30th anniversary celebration of the law firm, George Etomi and Partners.

Mrs Effa-Chukwuma has won several awards locally and internationally and one notable one is the Ashoka Fellowship Award which is a global award for leading entrepreneurs with innovative ideas.

She won the award in 2002 for setting up the first shelter for abused women and young girls in Nigeria.

In this interview, she discussed issues of violence against women and some of the issues surrounding it.

Also, the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola and other professionals shared their views on life after oil at the inaugural lecture to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the law firm, George Etomi and Partners.

One of the highlights of the event was a lecture which dwelt on the topic, Life Without Oil.
