Mohammed-Abubakar-IGPoliceNewly promoted officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been asked to assist in the fight against terrorism, corruption and crime prevention.

At the decoration ceremony of the promoted officers on Wednesday in Abuja, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, who decorated the officers with their new ranks, told them not to relent in discharging their duties to the nation.

Mr Abubakar asked them to see their promotion as a commitment to do more.

“You have an added responsibility. The fact that you are promoted is not just for you to jubilate and think that the time for you to rest has come.

“Gone are the days where commissioners of police use to leave their office by 2:00pm and go home and take a rest. These days the more you take, the more it is expected for you to give to the people of this country,” Mr Abubakar stressed.

He urged the officers to do everything humanly possible to revive the escort and do what is expected of them not only in fighting corruption within the police but in fighting corruption in Nigeria particularly in the public service.

He cautioned them against being armchair commissioners and remain in the office, but advised them to discharge their duties and responsibilities of escorts effectively.

“Be active, committed and be more vibrant in discharging your responsibilities,” he stressed.
