vlcsnap-2014-03-27-20h55m11s202A mammoth crowd gathered today to support Ekiti state governor, Mr Kayode Fayemi, as he kick-started his re-election campaign in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The rally was attended by other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, including Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state and Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.

Other governors include Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State and Abubakar  Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state.

They were unanimous in their message to the people of Ekiti state, saying the governor should be re-elected based on his achievements in the provision of infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment.

While addressing his supporters, the governor said his administration has achieved all his election promises in his manifesto for his first term adding that there is much more to be done, which is why he is seeking the people’s mandate for another four years.

Governor Wamakko noted that “in APC, we endorse a candidate that has a mission and vision for the electorates, as opposed to candidates who hide under the cover of various excuses to cover their failure.

“In APC, we continue to show transparency in the performance of governance in the country and we continue to work for the unity and the prosperity of Nigeria and Nigerians” adding that “we are working to ensure that our diversity remains our source of strength” he said.

On his part, Adamawa state governor, Murtala Nyako maintained that “what I can preach to you is that if you give him another chance, he is going to take Ekiti to higher heights than it is now”.

Governor Okorocha reminded the gathering that power remains with the people, urging the electorates to re-elect the governor as “they are blessed to have him” run for the governorship position.

Meanwhile, Governor Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari of Zamfara state challenged the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, to ensure the one man one vote mantra is adopted in the June 2014 elections in the state.

He noted that international bodies and institutions have expressed concern over the conduct of credible elections in Nigeria during the three-day Nigerian security workshop held between March 17 and 19 in Washington DC.
