The investing and non-investing public has the responsibility to report any sign of infractions or fraud in a company to the Nigerian Stock Exchange through the use of the NSE’s X-Whistle Portal.
This advice was given by the General Manager/Head of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Legal & Regulation Division, Miss Tinu Awe on Channels Television’s Business Morning.
She explained that when the exchange gets a tip or referral from a whistle blower, a preliminary analysis is done and a decision taken with regard to if and when an investigation should commence.
She also gave the assurance that the exchange would always protect whistle blowers and would release the identity of the whistle blower only if they were mandated to by law or policy.
On the issue of a possible hacking of the NSE’s network to get the identity of a whistle blower, Miss Awe gave an assurance that the exchange has a robust and secure network.
