Patients on admission at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo (LAUTECH), Osun State, have appealed to the Oyo and Osun State governments to dialogue with the striking health workers in order to bring an end to the indefinite strike which commenced on Wednesday by all the unions in the hospital.
According to reports gathered by Channels Television, all departments including the wards within the hospital premises were put under lock except for the security and mortuary section, 24 hours after the strike commenced.
Majority of the patients on admission were discharged on Wednesday, leaving most beds empty but for few patients whose conditions seemed critical and were left in the female, male and children’s ward.
The Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH teaching hospital, Osogbo, Professor Femi Fadiora, told Channels Television via a telephone interview that intense dialogue to resolve the situation had commenced with appropriate authorities. He further assured all concerned that the crisis would soon be over.
Workers of the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital had earlier called on its union to proceed on indefinite strike to drive home its demands on arrears of its salaries and the status of the Hospital, considering the co-ownership between Oyo and Osun states.
