Protesting-women-Chibok-GirlsAggrieved mothers, fathers and relatives of the young school girls abducted from their school in Chibok, Borno State, on April 14 by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect, gathered at the Eagle Square, Abuja, asking the government to take drastic actions to rescue the girls.

From the square, they took their protest to the National Assembly in the hope that their efforts would see to the release of their children.

Nobody knows what the fate of the girls are at the moment in the hands of the suspected members of the terrorist group that had held them for 21 days now.

One mother, who could not hide her pains, cried in grief, having no idea about where her daughter was.

The Nigerian government has made several efforts to rescue the girls but the efforts are yet to yield any result.

This protest is not only taking place in Nigeria, as it has generated a popular message, “Bring Back Our Girls”, world over.

In Nigeria, the protesters pleaded with the government to do more in securing the release of their children.

The National Assembly, on their part, had held plenary on the issue of the over 220 abducted girls.

In the Senate, federal lawmakers from Borno State painted a very grim picture of what may have become the fate of the abducted girls, saying they have been married by the insurgents.

A proper collaboration with neighbouring countries in dealing with the issue has been suggested to ensure that the girls would not be taken across the border unnoticed.

A challenge the security agencies are facing is the unavailability of means of identification for the girls.

How they can find these girls without their pictures is a mystery that is still not solved.

Nigerian lawmakers stressed that time had come for Nigeria to seek help from wherever it can get it.

In the video, are the views and comments of the lawmakers on what Nigeria should do.
