keshi_super_eaglesAhead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in Brazil in June, the Federal Government has called on the Super Eagles players and other stake holders in sports as well as Nollywood actors to take the lead in the fight against the HIV/Aids scourge during the event.

President Goodluck Jonathan made the call at the launching of Protect the Goal Initiative in the Presidential Villa.

He reiterated the call on state governors to inspire their citizens to also take the lead in the fight against the HIV/Aids scourge.

The President used the occasion to sign the insignia of the Protect the Goal Initiative describing sports as the only unifying sector designed to motivate the young ones to avoid habits that could expose them to the dreaded HIV scourge.

He assured the Super Eagles of federal government’s full support, urging them to go to Brazil and bring glory to Nigeria.

Present at the signing ceremony include Minister of Sports Mr Tammy Danagogo, Director General National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA),Professor Jogn Idoko and the Director, UNAIDS, Mr Djibril Dialo.
