segun abiodunThe Special Adviser on Housing in Ogun State, Segun Abiodun, says one of the aims of the government is to ensure that residents living in the rural areas are able to work and maintain a good lifestyle in their comfort zone, instead of migrating to the urban areas.

“What we are trying to do is to transform those towns into livable zones,” she said.

Citing an example, she stated that the ministry was working on transforming Agbara into an industrial estate with the help of Opic, by developing housing units to support the industrial estate that the ministry was developing.

“You don’t have to travel outside Agbara to get the things that you need like good schools, hospitals and we are trying to develop good roads”.

Speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily on Wednesday, the Special Adviser mentioned that the drive of the government in terms of infrastructure wass to open up all rural areas. “We intend to open all rural areas in the state where you can find Ogun standard roads, which means, whatever we are doing can be seen anywhere in the world.”

She also stated that one of the focuses of the Ministry of Agriculture for the state was to have a “producing market” in the rural areas, instead of residents coming to the highway to buy food and other items. She noted that the housing sector in the state was the basis for which the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture could thrive.

She also said that some projects that would be unveiled at the forum included the development of the metro city; which is situated along the long bridge on the Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

She explained that the Ogun state government intended to turn the metrocity into a social economic environment, to invite investors into the state.
