Bring back our girlsTeachers in Ondo State under the aegis Nigerian Union of Teachers have joined their counterparts in the 36 states in Nigeria to protest against the abduction of over 200 school girls in Chibok, Borno State, North East Nigeria.

The teachers in their hundreds marched to the Governor’s office in Akure, the state capital, chanting songs, raising placards with strong warnings to the Boko Haram insurgents to release the girls with immediate effect.

The State Chairman of the NUT, Ojo Fanimokun, in his speech, described the abduction as an assault to humanity and an attack to the teaching profession and the school system.

Governor Mimiko, who had travelled out of the state on an official assignment, was represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Kola Ademujimi.

Mimiko commended the teachers for showing concern for the girls and equally declared the State Government’s condemnation of the terrorists group, Boko Haram’s activities of killing and abducting innocent people.

The teachers insisted that apart from the protest, they would continue to deploy other meaningful strategies to ensure the safe release of the abducted schoolgirls.
